Panagiotis Saltis is Balkan Champion. On 12 April 2025 in Astros, Kynouria, he won the U18 10km race walk at the Balkan Race Walking Championships in 45:23, crossing the line first and claiming his first international title.
The gold medal confirmed what the 2024 season had promised: the race walker from Karditsa is no longer just a national-level talent. Racing against the best juniors of the Balkan region, Saltis controlled the race and finished clear of the field.
The Astros victory opened a strong 2025 season — a month later he walked 43:14 for 10km at the European Race Walking Team Championships in Poděbrady, still his personal best over the distance.
